Every breeder aspires to be judged Best Breeder, but this is a
nebulous title and I'm sure that there are many who deserve this
title more than Tartan Kennels. Having said that, the above
picture is probably my proudest possession as an Airedaler.
To win this award
one has to enter three dogs and/or bitches of their breeding to
compete first against their breed, if any, then against their
group, then against the winning entries of the other six groups.
Different judges are used (three for each level), the award is
based on having specimens of equal type and soundness. I only wish
Joanie could have lived to receive it.

Evans (breeders of Ch Bryn Hafod Hey Penny) truly should have been co-recipients of this award as two of
the dogs, Ranger and Jeff, were sons of Hey Penny and
Patches was her granddaughter. One works with what they have the
good fortune to be allowed to own.
